Frequently asked questions
1. DO YOU SELL HOOK AND BULLET PRESCRIPTION LENS?
2. ARE BROKEN OR SCRATCHED LENSES COVERED UNDER YOUR LIFETIME WARRANTY?
Our replacement policy is pretty simple. If you have a problem with your lens or frame that is the fault of the product, we will replace it with no questions asked. For free! If your problem exists from abuse on your behalf, that is on you. For example, running your glasses over with the lawn mower is out of our control! We are always happy to evaluate every pair of glasses. Your satisfaction is always our number one goal.
3. WHAT IS THE COST TO REPAIR MY SUNGLASSES?
For the original owner, Hook and Bullet will repair or replace with an identical or reasonably equivalent style of your choice, any product determined by Hook and Bullet to have a manufacturer’s defect. Your satisfaction is always our primary goal. If our product fails due to a defect on our side, we will replace it at no charge to you.
Repairs that are not deemed a manufacturing defect may be repaired at a cost to the customer.
5. WILL YOU SEND ME SCREWS/LENSES/PARTS FOR MY SUNGLASSES?
We do not send out parts for our sunglasses. Lenses and frame components need to be sent in for repair to have those parts replaced by our trained repair technicians. If you need to send your sunglasses in for repair, please contact us using the Contact Us page on this website.
7. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN MY LENSES?
As with any quality product, proper care will enhance and prolong the usefulness of your sunglasses and protect your investment. For optimum performance, rinse your sunglasses in warm water. Use a mild liquid dish or bath soap to wash each lens surface. Dry using a clean, soft, absorbent cloth. Do not use paper-based products to clean your lenses. Do not use abrasive cleaners, soaps or detergents that may leave a deposit on the lens. Do not use tissues with added lotions, lanolin, silicone or other cleaners; they will leave a film on the lens.
SCRATCHES
The multiple coatings on your lenses are resistant to scratching, however heavy, abusive scratching can break through the coatings and cause visible marks. Significantly help prolong the life of your lenses by removing dirt and other particles with good cleaning practices and keep your sunglasses in their case while not in use. Good cleaning practices will also help minimize scratching. Always store your sunglasses in a case. Never lay your sunglasses on the lens.
CHEMICALS
Certain common household chemicals will react negatively with the frame material and the metal oxides used on the coatings of your lenses. Avoid contact with acetone (nail polish remover), caustic solutions (such as glass or other ammonia based cleaners), hair sprays containing methylene (listed on label), chlorine (from swimming pools or unfiltered water) or glue.
HARD WATER
"Hard" water contains high levels of dissolved minerals, especially calcium and magnesium. It is "softened" by the addition of sodium during the filtering process. Everyday examples include pool water and unfiltered water, such as sprinkler water. "Hard" water can be a nuisance to sunglass wearers, as it leaves white spots on lenses after drying. To avoid spotting, simply rinse any sunglass or eyeglass with filtered (tap) water, and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
SALT WATER
All Hook and Bullet sunglasses are saltwater safe and corrosion resistant. As with "hard" water, we suggest you rinse off any sunglass with filtered (tap) water, and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
HEAT
Excessive heat may deteriorate your lenses or misshape your nylon frame. Avoid placing your sunglasses where you might expect excessive heat, for example, on the dashboard of your car.
CLEAN CLOTHS
All new sunglasses purchased from Hook and Bullet include a clean cloth bag. Clean cloths are a great way to keep your sunglasses clean and smudge free. We recommend you frequently launder your clean cloth to keep if free of debris, dirt and oils that could damage your lenses. Wash in warm soapy water. Do not use fabric softener as this may leave a film on your lenses.
